Margaret Mainwaring has a laundry tip to keep matching socks together- Get some safety pins and keep them next to the washing machine for your socks .Pin the toes of the socks together so you save time matching them up after the laundry process.
 
To keep your washing machine new, every few months fill the machine with warm water and a pint of vinegar. Margaret Smith wrote that this will clean out the hoses and stop clogging.
 
Alfie Sheard phoned with this one - If you have a metal zip that is sticking, sprinkle a little talcum powder in them.
 
Roz has a much loved pure wool cardigan and its been washed in the machine by mistake and has shrunk a little, please contact us if there is anything she can do any thing to loosen the fibres and possibly get more stretch out of it?
 
Joan Armstrong uses shampoo to wash her woolens, she says you can use any brand, as it keeps them lovely and soft.
 
Nora Bailey uses baking soda in her clothes washing instead of fabric softener, and says it softens the clothes just as well.
 
Gladys Jones says that if your pantyhose hold static and stick to you clothing, when you have washed them rinse them in water and hair conditioner, and she also
saves the cardboard roll from glad wrap and stores her scarves in it that are delicate fabrics.
 
Marge Roberts sent in these laundry tips- To remove perspiration stains add 2 aspirins to the final rinsing water in the washing machine, and to make new tea towels more absorbent, soak them in a little cold water with some Epsom salts.
 
To clean the inside of your iron fill with equal parts of vinegar and water. Allow the iron to sit and steam for about two minutes then rinse thoroughly.
 
To keep your iron clean rub over the surface with a little olive oil while it is still warm.
